For the second time in four years under manager Steve Corney, Helmuth-Ingalls returns to the District V Tournament. This summer’s squad has earned the invitation on the field throughout the entire season, while some said the 2006 squad “crashed the party” with an impressive late surge. However you like it, H-I will be looking to improve upon the past results, and has their sights set on the top prize - a berth in the New York State Tournament.

Play gets underway on Wednesday, and all games are played at the DeLutis Complex in Rome. The full first and second round schedule of games:

Wed.
1pm - Game 1: Love vs. Parkhurst
1pm - Game 2: Helmuth-Ingalls vs. Ilion
4pm - Game 3: Utica vs. Sackets Harbor
7pm - Game 4: Smith vs. Herkimer

Thur.
1pm - Game 1 loser vs. Game 3 loser
1pm - Game 2 loser vs. Game 4 loser
4pm - Game 1 winner vs. Game 3 winner
7pm - Game 2 winner vs. Game 4 winner

Note: Utica Post has secured a bid to the state tournament as the host team. A second District V representative will be determined by this week’s tournament. Should Utica win the District, the host committee reserves the right to select a host team replacement.
